The Beebot is your personal intercom from your smart hive. It records data about the change in temperature and humidity and performs acoustic analysis every 15 minutes. All information is compiled into a report and sent to the cloud three times a day. On the backend of our analytics dashboard (the BBoard), the data is run through a series of algorithms to make more sense of it and notify you when your attention is needed. This way you minimize the number of manual inspections and only intervene when you have to.

Using Beebot you are joining the era of digital beekeeping by collecting valuable data, easily accessing it from anywhere on any device and even sharing with advisors and customers. Bee smart and keep healthy bees with Beebot!

Key Features

  • Measures the in-hive temperature and humidity and records the buzzing frequencies of the bees.
  • Connects to your local Wi-Fi network.
  • Sends information to the cloud once every hour.
  • Analyzes the aggregated data and sends you alerts when your attention is needed.
  • All your data is visualized on our interactive BBoard dashboard.
  • Fits any commercially available frame.
  • Runs on a single battery charge for 6 to 8 months.

  • What data does the device record and why is this information viable? – The Beebot measures the in-hive temperature and humidity and records the sound inside of the hive. The temperature and humidity analysis tells us a lot about the health of the colony, as bees tend to keep those parameters within certain levels and any fluctuation is a clear sign that something is wrong with the colony. Our algorithms analyze the information gathered by the device and send alarms and notifications to the beekeeper, so that she knows that her attention is needed. We are currently working on advanced sound analysis algorithms that will allow for notifications when a queen has stopped laying eggs, or a new queen is born. We’ll also be able to predict swarming up to 5 days prior to the event, so that the beekeeper will be ready to react. We are fully committed to further expand our algorithms’ portfolio with additional useful tools for our beekeepers.
  • What is the monthly subscription for? – The subscription gives you access to the BBoard and to our full online support.
  • What is the BBoard? – The BBoard is our interactive dashboard where all the data aggregated by your Beebot is stored, analysed and visualised in easy to read graphs and tables. The BBoard gives you live insights to your beehive and sends you notifications when your attention is needed.Apart from that, you’ll be able to see historical data of your hive and to know what to expect over the course of the year, based on the past dynamic of your bees. Our BBoard software is also a great tool for taking notes and keeping track of your operations. What’s more, it offers the option to input hive inspection data in 5 simple steps and to add reminders in the built-in calendar.
  • What is the battery life of the Beebot? – The Beebot runs on a single charge for 6 to 8 months depending on the weather conditions, the strength of the connection, etc. The battery is rechargeable, the charger is included in your Beebot’s box.
  • What sort of communication is needed between the unit in the hive and the internet? – The Beebot connects to the cloud via Wi-Fi. The connection may be provided by a router or a cellular hotspot.
  • How to install the Beebot?– The Beebot is easily installed in 5 quick steps. All you need to take with you to your hive is a screwdriver and a knife, everything else is provided in your Beebot’s box. You can also watch our step-by-step Beebot installation video.
  • How much space does the Beebot take up on the frame?– The Beebot is designed to fit any commercially available hive frame, and depending on the frame itself, it usually takes up to ¼ of the frame.
  • What maintenance does the Beebot require?– Тhe only thing you have to do is recharge the battery, once its drained (usually once every 6 months). One of our goals while developing the Beebot, was for it to be very easy to use and not to require additional maintenance – you just put it in your beehive and let it work for you.
  • How many Beebots do I need for one hive?– One Beebot is enough for one hive. Of course, if you want to use it for scientific purposes, you may want to use more than one Beebot per beehive.
  • Should I remove the Beebot prior to treatment(i.e. OA Vaporizer for varroa mites, etc)? – We advise the beekeepers to remove the Beebot prior to any treatment. It can be easily re-installed in the hive after the treatment – it only takes two zip ties.
  • Can I put the Beebot inside a FlowHive? – The short answer is Yes. We already have clients using the Beebot in their FlowHives. In fact, one of your team members also keeps his bees in such a hive and monitors them with a Beebot.
  • How do I connect the Beebot to my Wi-Fi network? – You can easily configure the network you want the Beebot to work with from your BBoard account. You will need a smartphone (Android or iOS) to provide an initial hotspot to access the configuration portal. Full configuration manual will be available in your BBoard account.
