Raime is a beekeeper from the region of Tutrakan, where she keeps 35 hives. She plans to double them by the end of the year, and you can help her. By combining her work in a large international company with keeping bees, she is an example of how we can be close to nature despite our busy daily lives. Raime’s inclusion in the “Adopt a hive” platform has a back story. She found out about Adopt a Hive through her daily work. As part of the team of one of our corporate clients, she receives a Christmas gift made by us. This provoked her to find out more about “Adopt a hive” and apply to be one of us.
Raime is participating in the Adopt a Hive program ????
Here is what Raime told us, “I have been officially beekeeping for 7 years. And how did I start? My dad was a good beekeeper and when we were little my brother and I were always taken to the apiary, and we had more than a great time there. There is no other sound more soothing to me than the buzzing of bees. Around them, away from everything, is the greatest peace and the most pleasant rest. I started with 10 hives given to me by dad. Over time and with his help, I was able to increase them to 35 hives. My idea is to double them because beekeeping is a hobby that reminds me of my childhood and especially of my dad. Now I try to pass everything on to my children in the same way – to have a childhood in nature. These are such hard-working creatures, I can’t compare them to anything else. The bees in a hive are so strict and orderly in their work that they fill up my soul with joy.
My apiary is located near the Danube River near the village of Nova Cherna, municipality of Tutrakan. In the spring bloom a variety of flowers and herbs, from which the bees collect colorful pollen and honey from a spring bouquet. Later it is the turn of linden and lavender, followed by sunflower and in the late summer days, we again get pollen and nectar from a variety of flower. The area where the apiary is located is mostly grassland.
I have another regular job which is quite responsible – I am a manager at BNP Paribas. This is the reason why I spend more time on weekends at the apiary, and sometimes I manage to escape to my favourite place after work. And when I see all the bees working tirelessly, it recharges me again and again and makes me never give up on my dreams.
I believe in the cause of the “Adopt a hive” program – that’s why I participate. Bees are a necessity for the existence of our planet. And an opportunity for more people to access the unknown magical world of bees.”
